Posted April 12, 200817 yr Well it's only been 2 weeks since my babies hatched and am always blown away how quickly they grow!! Sorry they're not very good photos, I try to be quick so I dont disturb them too much!! I have one nest with 6 chicks (all eggs hatched!) and the mother squarks really bad when I open their nest box so I cant take any pics of them sorry!
April 15, 200817 yr Author I was suprised by the variety of colours in the nest of six chicks! The dad is a yellow-face bluey green (sorry dont know the correct colour!) and the mum is a white and bluey grey pied (will post pics soon!). So far I can tell there is 1 lutino, 1 albino, and the rest I'm not sure yet till they feather up more. Will take some photos of the chicks tomorrow afternoon!!
April 16, 200817 yr Author I pretty sure the lutino and the albino chick have French Moult - I noticed tonight they have bare patches on their wings and head and from previous experience looks exactly like it.
April 26, 200817 yr Author My babies are now 4 weeks old and are absolutely gorgeous. I took the 3 eldest ones out and brought them up inside for a little while. They had a nibble at some seed and a drink of water. They are fairly tame already! Will take some pics in the morning to show them off!!
April 26, 200817 yr Author I'm happy to report that none of them have the dreaded French Moult, the bare patches I could see was just where the feathers hadnt grown yet - silly me!- I had a real blonde moment!!!
April 26, 200817 yr Thats good. Sounds like they are coming along nicely... Edited April 26, 200817 yr by JimmyBanks
April 27, 200817 yr Author Well here are my three oldest babies!! Would you say the first and third chicks are spangles?? http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g212/jen.../jimminy017.jpg http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g212/jen.../jimminy019.jpg Edited April 27, 200817 yr by Elly first 2 images not sized properly, turned to links
April 27, 200817 yr Very cute Jenene...yes first and third are spangles. First one is an opaline spangle.... cant tell with the third one as the photo is small
April 27, 200817 yr Author I've taken a real shine to the opaline spangle, he is so quiet! He wanders around the computer desk and is very inquisitive! I only started handling him yesterday!
April 27, 200817 yr The opaline spangle is very pretty. Looks like a hen in that photo. Edited April 27, 200817 yr by KAZ
April 27, 200817 yr Author The opaline spangle is very pretty. Looks like a hen in that photo. I will never learn - here I was thinking it was a cock bird. (Will have to study your 'cere post' a lot harder!)
May 1, 200817 yr Author Well I did intend taking some more recent photos of my babies but I will be away for a few days as my uncle passed away and will be travelling all day tomorrow for the funeral. But will try very hard to take some pics as soon as I get back.
May 1, 200817 yr I'm so sorry for your loss. Big hugs to you and your family xoxo Your babies are looking very cute. They have grown so much and I love their fluffy faces
May 1, 200817 yr Author Sorry to hear about your Uncle Jenene Travel safely. :angel1: Thanks Kaz and Maesie, I will travel safely. As I said in a PM to Maesie, a death in the family makes you sit back and realise just how precious everyone is and teaches you not to take anyone for granted. I saw my uncle at Christmas and spent the afternoon reminiscing about days gone by, it was a very relaxed atmosphere and will treasure our memories together forever. Although he is gone from this world he will live in my heart forever, and will see him in the next world!!
