June 8, 200816 yr Author Well my aviary has been put on hold for a little while, my partners daughter-in-law's father passed away last week from cancer so we are busy helping organize the funeral, doing cooking for the family etc. Hopefully it wont be too long before we finally get to finish it - it's so close!!

September 12, 200816 yr Author Awww Man, I saw that you had replied thinking that it was the Pictures Sorry to do that to you Neat! Well, after 6 long months here it is!!!!! Edited September 12, 200816 yr by jenene283
September 12, 200816 yr They'd have to be real happy with that space Jenene ........BIG CONGRATULATIONS Someone better tell them they dont have to huddle My only suggestion is to cover the roof area ( MAYBE CLEAR SHEETS ? ) as wild birds carry psittacosis and other nasties and your birds will get infected through droppings passed through the top of the aviary.
September 12, 200816 yr WOW!!! Well done! It looks so awesome and i love the wood! I love your view too - very pretty countryside I agree with the roof covering.
September 12, 200816 yr Agree with others... and do you have a safety door? Well done mate, it looks fantastic! They are going to LOVE it... and with that view, why wouldn't they?!?!?!?!
September 12, 200816 yr Author Thanks for the tips everyone, I dont have a safety door Maesie, I guess I'm just going to have to be very careful going in and out. I will try and talk Terry into putting some clear sheeting on the flight area - damn wild birds
September 12, 200816 yr Handy hint with safety door as you may have read my suggestions before. A net on a hoop that hangs over a childs bed. Use one of those attached above the door...step through the net to go in and out and when not in use throw it back up on top :hap:
September 12, 200816 yr It is just perfect :hap: WOW thanks soooo much for sharing I love how they are all on the one perch enjoying the view and sunshine
September 12, 200816 yr WOW I am so jealous :hap: that is awesome!! I love this picture with them all in a group
September 12, 200816 yr Author WOW I am so jealous :hap: that is awesome!! I love this picture with them all in a group Thanks Elly, they seem to really enjoy the aviary! They were all in the enclosed area tonight all snug and warm in their insulated bedroom Edited September 12, 200816 yr by jenene283
September 16, 200816 yr It is just perfect WOW thanks soooo much for sharing I love how they are all on the one perch enjoying the view and sunshine I was gonna ask about that... is there only one perch in the flight area? Is that to allow max flight space. I envy this set up. Boy I can only imagine. My husband was having a heart attack over the indoor aviary I had him help me with, if I ever asked him to build me something like this he'd make sure there was room for a bed for me in it!!!!! I only wish the weather permitted me to have an outdoor aviary. I'm not familiar with this kind of set up so my question about the number of perches is just curiosity... not being critical. Edited September 16, 200816 yr by **Liv** changed "#" to "number"
September 19, 200816 yr Author Yes Chrissy the reason for the one perch is so they have plenty of room to fly about. :hap:
