Posted April 10, 200817 yr In our newspaper tonight was a photo and story of a security guard in Edmonton, Alberta (Canada) who'd brought "Muddy" the budgie into work with him in his front pocket. He got fired, as apparently his supervisor felt this potentially interfered with his job duties. When interviewed by the press, this caring guy said he'd taken Muddy to work because he was being bullied by another budgie, he felt, due to his splayed legs (rickets?) and was trying to protect him. Anyways, by the time the reporter called the guy's supervisor, the story had changed (?) -- the security guard hadn't been fired, but only told not to bring Muddy into work anymore. I don't know, I could see a budgie flying in my face as a potential deterrent to criminal behaviour! The picture of Muddy was very cute, and looked as though he had a case of rickets.
April 10, 200817 yr Oh dear, sad, but the security guard should have put the budgie in another cage. Temperatures are still too cold in Alberta (snow still periodically coming down) to risk the budgie getting a draft in/out of the car and in/out of work and where he put the poor dear, there is a limit...........
April 10, 200817 yr l found the picture of the security guard and his 2month old budgie "muddy" http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a277/lka...14_17_28_24.jpg the budgie is a cutie. Edited April 10, 200817 yr by birdluv changed to link, l thought that l resized it correctly but apparently it was still too big.
April 10, 200817 yr Good job, Birdluv. That little budgie is so cute...but looks so very young. Hope it eats while he carts it about in his pocket, Good intentions but stresses can come with moving it about, and not being able to fossick for its food while its in the pocket either. He needs a birdsitter while he is at work .....and Muddy looks like she is only 4-5 weeks.
April 10, 200817 yr Thats a very bad case of splayed legs Looks like he really loves his birds. I am pleased he didn't get fired
April 10, 200817 yr Author l found the picture of the security guard and his 2month old budgie "muddy" http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a277/lka...14_17_28_24.jpg the budgie is a cutie. Good on ya. Nice picture. Why didn't I think of that?
April 10, 200817 yr This guy should have told his Boss that the bird was his SEEING EYE BUDGIE ? Who can refuse to allow a man his Budgie Guide Bird ? The Disabled Societys would be all over that Boss Man for Discrimination. What is funny ... is the idea of this guy walking all over his work site. With " Muddy " making his pockets MUDDY'd. The Secutrity Man is standing in the elevator with a bunch of office workers coming & going & from outta no where .... a little chirping comes from his pocket. (Laughing out loud) .... too funny. People standing in the elevator next to him wondering where that soft bird chirp is coming from ? I am impressed with his dedication, care, concern & love for this bird. It is a cute little thing !
April 11, 200817 yr I reckon the bird would be nice and warm in his pocket sharing his body warmth. Poor bird will never perch, I wonder if he tried to fix the legs? It could well become his best friend and living in his pocket could be quite enjoyable. Probably had seeds in the bottom of his pocket the bird fossicked for. Good on him for loving it so much to risk his job for it. A true bird lover. (Laughing out loud) I've brought birds to work on more than one occasion.
April 11, 200817 yr His legs do look pretty seriously splayed... hope he tries to fix them... He sounds like he cares a great deal for little Muddy though..
