I have 1 hen that will lay 1 or 2 good eggs then a soft egg???

Why does she do this? I have cuttlebone in cage as well as mineral grit

Remove her from breeding for awhile and build up her calcium levels again. Soft shelled eggs are laid when there isnt enough calcium and can also be due to an older hen.

Dont have so much faith in cuttlebones as they play with them more than ingest them. The liquid calcium is best....but she must be rested and not egglaying while she builds up her calcium levels again. Seperate her from the boys and flock and build up her reserves again. Give her a very long rest...at least 6 months. Also check her age...if she is past four ...retire her from breeding.

Calcium supply is good but the body can't properly use it unless it has vitamin D. Usually the calcium supplements have vitamin D included.

If you are only using cuttlefish you also need to supply Vitamin D. Cod Liver Oil on their seed is good for this.
