This pair now have 3 chicks.

The first looks to have yellow feathers coming through on the wings.

2nd chick (ino) was thrown out of the nest, so I warmed it and put it back in, but the hen kept pushing it aside to I tried 2 foster mothers and they rejected it too (maybe they new something was wrong with it?) it ended up dying.

3rd chick is doing very well.

4th chick was half way out of the egg and died before it got out during the night - not sure why the hen didn't help it?

5th chick hatched this morning and it doing good too.

Sorry to hear about your losses, but usually there is something wrong if a chick doesn’t live or hatch correctly…if all is well you don’t need to intervene, they will take care of themselves. The natural system isn’t like us humans that spend lots of time helping the sick; it spends its time looking after the healthy. Some times young bird just don’t seem to get it right & will improve later on, but chicks that don’t hatch correctly show to me something was definitely wrong & little can be done about it..

Thanks Norm, I know everything happens for a reason but it's still very disheartening when you can't save them all  On the up side they are very good parents considering this is there very first clutch and the 3 surviving ones are coming along great.

Hey Denise, Have you got any babie Pics

These are the parents (after vegies haha) and below are photos of the oldest chick - is a green normal possible from this match? The pin feathers are coming through on the body but some look green and some look blue??

3rd pair laid a second clutch and so far 2 have hatched, the little one at the front was only 20 minutes old when I took the photo.
