Putting A Fallow Or Lacewing Hen With Grey Spangle Cock

Featured Replies

okay we all know how hopless i am at genetics so i thought i would ask for some expert advice :D

I went budgie shop hopping yeasterday and with my b'day coming up am wanting to get myself a little pressie :D

I have found a female Blue series, Fallow or Lacewing (i can't tell which it is - but it looks like Kaz's lacewing to me :D ) and she has a green ring (which was, according to the breeder, hard to read) and appariantly a '06'. I will go down this afternoon and pick her up.... unless i find she is actually an old bird :budgiedance:

Would she be good in a cabnet with BG (my grey spangle)

If the hen is a lacewing, what would she produce with a Grey Spangle cock??

If she is a fallow, what would she produce with a Grey Spangle cock??

Thanks so much,

Liv

Green ring is last years...07. As far as I know you have to find them splits to produce what they are.

Hmmm... is there any way of telling a split ???

More likey Males will be Grey wings / split to either FALLOW OR LACE WING which ever one it is ...

Better to Find a Good Cock .....hehe Sorry childish I know , A Male Fallow Lace wing etc and breed with a different mutation Hen ..... As it is sexlinked so the Males will "Carry the Gene" Yes some FALLOWS are Sex link heheheh

thanks for that advice Neat :D So it's the boys that have the gene..... There is a yellow series bird there too... perhaps that one is a male. i saw so many birds yesterday that i can't remember. I hope to bring home one or two nice show types today :D

hehehe - I tend to giggle at some things said here in relation to the 'male' budgies - some things really crack me up :budgiedance: - totally immature, but i can't help it... hehehehe

With Sexlink Mutations the Female will either BE IT or NOT BE IT where as the MALE will EITHER BE IT or BE SPLIT FROM IT ..... I am a child at heart (Laughing out loud) ..... if you are wanting to breed Lace wings then try and get a Male one being split i don not think you can tell visually you'll need the BUDGIE TREE for that - But if you can get a breeder that KNOWS it is spilt and throw him over the one mentioned in the Post ( sorry throw is the horsey chik in me LMAO ) Breed him with her ..... OH SO CONFUSING ....

I have a fallow cock and a fallow hen and I am breeding both to other mutations in the hopes they both have clutches and I can then cross THEIR clutches with each other down the track, being that both clutches will be split to fallow. (That is my understanding anyway :hap:?)

Do you know someone that actually breeds fallows Liv? Mine have been pot luck buys from a bird dealer I visit regularly and the only guy who breeds down south apparently hasnt had any luck for the last 2 years (so I have been told).

Yes cross the clutches that is what am hoping for

I don't know if the birds are fallow or Lacewing. I haven't picked them up yet. I hope to head down on wednesday and grab them... I can ask them if they breed fallows while i am there and let you know :(
