Throat Lozenges

Featured Replies

Posted

I am treating a few quarantine birds.

Does anyone know the recommended brand of throat lozenges for treating possible fungal problems in the budgies.

I have only one left that was from a vet it has SQUIBB stamped on the tablet.

I don't know how old it is, it may be out of date.

Dissolve lozenge in 6 ml of hot water and administer 5 drops to the beak morning and evening.

Has anyone got any variations on this remedy, as I don't want a breakout of mega!

Thanks for the PM Daz

I'm sure there is a human throat lozenges that has the same active ingredients as the much more $ bird specific one. I just can't remember it's name.

I will have to search through the mag and book collection.

I aquired some Fungilin from a mate and will treat as Daz recommended the two in question

All the others seem fine.

Q. Member . Fungilin lozenges help with mouth & stomach ulcers, could these help birds?

A. D.P. As these are made from Amphotericin – yes.

Thanks Neat

At least I know to look for one with Amphotericin in it!

Both birds have respondered to the Fungilin and are starting to put on weight. I have also hand administered dosages to the rest of the 50+ birds in the aviary just in case.
