Posted April 2, 200817 yr I am somewhat confused. Hoping someone can help me out here. I have been having a look through the Australian Budgerigar Society website http://www.absbudgie.com/ as they meet close by to me here. However I looked at their membership form and one of the questions asked is "Parent Club" & "Year Of Membership" I always thought the ABS was a budgerigar club itself. Do you need to be a member of a local club as well as the ABS. Thanks in advance

April 2, 200817 yr Author Iam not 100% sure, but you need to be a member of your local club & a member of the state body, to get rings, According to their website you just need to be a member of the ABS to buy their rings. THis is what I am finding confusing. The Australian Budgerigar Society Inc provides a number of services to its members including sale of ABS closed metal rings. These rings are available to members only, however new members may purchase rings at the same time as their membership application. Ring issue date is the 1st January each year and the new seasons rings are not available til that date. 2005 prices include GST and ANBC ring levy . Uncoded Rings are sold in lots of 10 (minimum) with no maximum. Prices are A$4.00 per 10 rings and A$40.00 per hundred rings. Mail orders should allow A$2.00 to cover postage. Unfortunately at this time ring orders and memberships can only be taken by conventional mail. (we hope to have email facilities soon). Enquiries can be directed by email to The Secretary or telephone ________________ however the actual order must be by post with payment by cheque or money order made out to The Australian Budgerigar Society Inc. Allow 10 days for processing and return mail. Edited April 2, 200817 yr by Derek

April 2, 200817 yr Australian Budgerigar Society is a club, now. It belongs to the SQBBA South Queensland Budgerigar Breeders Association. Which is controlled by the ANBC Australian National Budgerigar Council. I wouldn't worry about that information. It is there for those that want to belong to a number of clubs. I am a member of the PRBS Pine Rivers Budgerigar Society, but can be a member of ABS. PRBS would be my Parent club with my year of Membership being Current. (2008). This means that even though I would be a member of both clubs, I could only get my rings through PRBS. My noted ring number is 1W. My full ring number is PR 1W. PR for Pine Rivers. 1W is me, Darryl Wells. PR 1W is exclusive. No one else in Australia has it. BNS 10G is Henry George. PR 1G is David Ganzer. and so on.
April 2, 200817 yr alot of people with names ending in G at pine rivers??? I'm guessing at least 10 huh... I never realised that the letter was from your last name... cool.

April 2, 200817 yr I found this one that I am thinking about joining .....http://www.budgerigar.com.au/ Hi Neat you dont have to be a member to go to the meetings so I suggest you do that and get a feel for your local club before you decide to join. I did the same and joined the very next day.
April 2, 200817 yr I should've paid better attention to your post daz. :yellowhead: Neat There is a PIED club in NSW that might be where the POM comes from on your other thread... just a thought...
