Hi everyone,

I have two birds I would like your help identify. I am pretty sure they're both graywings, but I'm not too good identifying colors and would like your help identifying what type of graywings they are if in fact they are graywings. I just Recently started researching budgie/parakeet colors and by what I have fond I think they are #1 a Greywing Grey and #2 a Greywing Grey Green.

here is the site I got it from http://www.budgies.org/info/colors/greywing.html

Thank you for your help in advance I really appreciate it. :budgiedance: :ausb:

I am not perfect at typing either, Some one will correct me if im wrong :budgiedance:

To me your first picture has a male Skyblue dilut

and your second and third pictures is a male Yellow Face type 1, Greywing

ps - thats a nasty nip to the leg your grey wing is giving your dilut. I hope they dont fight like that often :ausb:

Welcome to the forum :hap:

I agree with Libby

but the cobalt may be a sky violet

:hap: if your looking for that pigeon on your avater I think I saw him today bobbing his head up and down making deep Whoo Whoo sounds chacing some other bird in the city today...

Back on topic now... your birds look really cute. If I had them I'd breed them with a lacewing... :D

I agree too Skyblue grey wing and YF1 Grey wing Blue Could be split from violet ...... .. ONLY NEW TO MUTATIONS DON'T SHOOT ME DOWN (Laughing out loud)

The second one is a Full Body Greywing which explains that the color is not diluted like the first one which is a GreyWing. There is no such thing as a greywing dilute (I saw somone write that) it is either one or the other because they share the same allele. Just adding in for clarification. Nice looking birds.

:budgiedance: (Laughing out loud) he's my Pije. :D I fond him as a baby and hand raised him. He now has a mate and 12 kids. :oI made a loft for him in my back yard. I wish I could breed them and get more graywings (there my favorite colored budgie) but they both have the same parents so.... And were I live I can not find graywings anywere. :( There the only 2 I have all my othere budgies are greens, blues, yellow green and black(all 3 colors together) (not sure what you call them) and I also have albinos, and a Lutino. Thanks everyone for your help. I really appreciat your help. :D :D :D

If you can find a bird split to greywing and breed one of your greywings you will get more too you don't have to have a greywing to get one just both parents needs to carry the gene.

Neat is right. Its a skyblue cinnamon wing. Not a good choice to pair up with a greywing.

Kaz can you please explain why this wouldn't be a good pairing? Is it because the cinimon and greywing kind of cancel each other out? or just colour in general? for some reason the pictures won't open for me at the top and I forget what the other bird looks like...

WOOO HOOOO I AM RIGHT ....... FOR ONCE ........ YEAH BABY

Sorry Back on topic ..... Nice Baby .... * neat pulls herself together

If you are wanting more Greywings .... Like Elly said pair with either a Grey wing or a greywing/ Split ....

The idea for greywing is to keep them full body colour greywing. Cinnamon wing muddies the genetic pool and then end up with all kinds of mixes...end result being other than what was expected or wanted.

Good one, Neat !! :D

Best pairing also as Neat says is greywing or split to greywing.

And okay thank I wont breed her with the graywing. If was to breed her/him what color type would be best to pair her up with?

You guys mind me asking one more question. With her I also had a yellow budgie (gave to me with a hurt wing). Its not a Lutino I know that much it has black eyes not red. I know I read the type somewere but cant seem to find it now. She/he is pure yellow (no other colors are on her) and black eyes.

thank you for the help again

have is a album with some of my budgies I have and the colors I was told they were: http://good-times.webshots.com/album/56297...host=good-times

if any of the color types are wrong please feel free to let me know so I can change them.

again thank you, you guys are the best. :D :D :hap: :hap: :hap:

The fully yellow one does he/she have small white cheek patches (where the budgie above has dark blue...)? and do the black eyes have an iris?

Nop all yellow no cheek patches that I see at all. Not sure what a iris is sorry :hap: but her eyes look like my Green and blues.

Wate I just looked at her again and if you look really look you can see small white patches starting. I know she is a baby and dont think she/he has fully got the white patches in yet. They would not show in a picture there so small. But looks like they well be there.
