Budgie And Heater ?

Featured Replies

Hi there,,

i reead this post the otherday about how some budgies died as they were kept in the kitchen..heres the link http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....ic=18743&hl=

Anyway,,,, i just have a concern of my own now...

My budgie lives in the my lounge room as i am there most of the time.

As its starting to get cold, i have been putting on the heater ( gas ) in the lounge the past 2 days......

Is this going to be a problem for the budgie ? the cage is right on the opposite side of the room to the heater so hes about 6 metres away from it,,,,,but am still a little concern if this will be a problem for him ???

pls let me know

Jason

Does your gas heater have a flu that vents fumes outside?

i Have no idea ?

I assume it would have, if it was to be safe for humans ?

Not 100% sure though

If your heater has a flu then you will see it coming out your roof or wall...

If its a free standing heater with no external flu then they are barley okay for humans, and quite dangerous for birds.

I would not use that for a heater just a tiny gas leak and your budgie will be dead, you should use a regular electric heater (no no tephlon coating) that is what I use in my room to keep Merlin warm.
