I have a fostered baby budgie that i am hand rearing i think it around 4 weeks old he has just learned how to eat properly and after last nights feed he had a huge air bubble in his crop i massaged it out and he was still lethargic but this morning when i woke up his crop is still full with last nights dinner and he is still lethargic has anyone got any ideas on what it could be?

I'm so sorry you are having troubles :P

I don't really know what to advise you, but for now your baby will need lots of warmth. use a lamp with a 25-40 watt globe.

(((hugs)))

a picture could help :D

He seems settled now he just did a big black poo hopefully it will pass i know wishful thinking. i gave him some more gatorade and hes a bit more peppy but i dont know how long it will last

Sorry I seem to have missed all this while we were doing the slab in the garden. I have little experience with sour crop....I know that one of the "cures" was to mix a few drops of pineapple juice in with the feeds as you went along. Libby is our handfeeding expert  and jenene and a few others.

Sorry about this problem. I'm glad you got the air out and I hope things pick up for this little one.

Hey Missy How is he doing Now .... YEAH KAZ WHERE WERE YOU !!!!! Missylu & I were freaking out .....

i had the same problem with one of my handraised budgies when he was 3 weeks old, he was lethargic and crop was not emptying but would not feed so i gave him cooled boiled water for a day and it helped the crop to empty. i am not sure if it is the recommended thing to do but it really helped him and he is 4 months old now.

Hey Deb this too was my first suggestion to Missylu .... I am glad that it has helped ....

A big black poo is not a good sign at all :S

It happens when the body is eating itself, so that probably means the blockage is still there
