Hey all Hope the Easter Bunny was good to you all ..... I have a question Got a new bird as a pressie and it is in Quarratine he has been wormed ( until i get to the vets to get iverc ) and lice sprayed Now My question is He has a stained Vent ( bum ) when should that go away???? he is on seed only at present he is getting the Welcome package ( fruti and Veg ) in the morning minus the greens ...

mmm that's a tough one. I guess if he was feed lots of greens before you got him and his poo stuck to his bum feathers and they stained them... it would be there untill the next moult or he cleaned it off (if it will come off). A bit like carrot on the face... but at the other end :nest:

Then how can you tell if they have a pooy vent ?

Wash his bum with water and see if it gets dirty again , he may be a bit stressed at the moment .

If you dont like it that much , get one of those leather garden gloves , I use to use them with the parots .

Don't really like to use gloves can't tell if i am using too much pressure on the bird ... I will tape my fingers up first then it'll have a few layers it needs to get thru first (Laughing out loud) ....

Most of the time I wear a thin pair of woolen gloves, especially for hens that are bitey. But that is because of my pain condition... if I get bitten it can flare up and I need extra pain killers. They work fine and you still have good feel of the birds.
