New question everyone my hand feeding of my adopted 4 week old babies is going well but they have a build up of hard dry formula stuck to there feathers under their beaks which looks like a long moustache how do i get rid of it? i have tried to wash it with warm water and a face cloth but it wont work i think they need a bath or something? any ideas? :P

Most warm wet cloth when you are feeding them. I wouldn't worry about bathing them until they are 6 to 7 weeks old and it is a warm day.

The same thing happens to my chicks when handrearing them. Try to perservere with the warm water and soaking the buildup till it softens. It should come off if you try and pick it off bit by bit. I know its hard when the bird is squirming to get away but you just have to keep at it. To prevent it happening again, dont give them too much food at once, and make sure you wipe the excess away with a damp cloth when you've finished feeding them. Hope this helps!!

HEHEH Missylu ..... I will get my Nanna to make BUDGIE BIBS :P

.... I usually have a cloth under them that I use ... But Just like removing any poo of their feet let the water soak in a bit and lightly flick it of with your finger nail :D
