Posted February 7, 200520 yr Well yesterday i found this great big cage for my bird at a store and i could afford it too! (Laughing out loud) so i bought it and Rovroski (my mum hates me for the name she says i should've called him something more "sweet-sounding" ) went in and i put his food dishes and water thingy, so he seemed to be adapting okay to his new home he was chirping and all, but i've noticed he wont move from the perch i had placed a seed stick (or whatever they're called) next to it and he seems to be eating that but he wont fly to the food or water dishes or fly out of the cage when i open it for him. I have to offer him seeds and lettuce and stuff from my hand but otherwhise he won't move. He doesn't seem to be unhappy though, he's singing along with me right now..... I've noticed he doesn't like flying that much with the other cage he just liked to climb to the top and sing from there not fly around....lazy bird...
February 7, 200520 yr yeah that's what i thought but what bothers me is the fact that he won't go and eat or drink by himself
February 7, 200520 yr i think he will do in time. He just needs to get used to his new surroundings. are the water and food dishes in different places than in his old cage?
February 7, 200520 yr well then give him a few days to get his feel about the place. Put some millet near the new seed pot or something - to tempt him near it maybe.
February 7, 200520 yr if your worried put some seeds on the floor. this encouraged skittle when i 1st got him ATD
February 8, 200520 yr if he don't like flying too much make sure there its are a few perches that he can just hop to. Claire xXx
February 8, 200520 yr You need to make something about his new cage more interesting so he will want to go in it. When I switched cages, I kept them both out and open for Rainbow and Skittles for a few days, but put more toys, extra veggies, and some millet in the new cage. They would float between cages for a day or so, then when they were comfortable with the new one, I put the old one up.
