Posted March 20, 200817 yr Hi I don't know if you have seen my post in Health section regarding Percy who has liver disease and has to go on a low fat diet without seed? I also have to give him milk thistle to help his liver so went to the natural health food shop and couldn't get it in pure form, only with other herbs added, but the guy said had I tried the budgie on mung beans as he only got them in because someone asked him for their budgie. So what I would like to know, are they any good for budgie food and not high in fat please and also does anyone else give milk thistle to their budgies and if so can you tell me where you buy it from? Thank you so much for your help as it will be very much appreciated. Chrissie
March 20, 200817 yr I give my birds milk thistle, the wild green plant, but not an extract, it’s commonly used for cage birds especially Canaries, but I think Budgies like some other wild greens better. I have never used Mung beans, as I don’t give my birds soaked seeds, they would be very high in protein, not sure about the fat levels.
