Howdy all, haven't been here for a while, been really busy, started working and all that stuff.

 

anyway on with the question I have.

 

I have a new budgie he is about 4 months old and a biter, now when I put my hand in the cage he is happy to jump on my hand but he goes a little crazy and I am not really sure what he is trying to achieve.

 

he will first bite the tip on my finger as it is coming towards him but not hard it is more a nibble, hence why he has been named nibbler, anyway he will jump on my hand and he starts of just nibbling my hand and progressively bite harder to the point he is flapping his wings and biting me, almost like he is trying to fly off with my hand, he also bashes his head against my hand like a wood pecker. then he will walk up my arm a little and nibble at my arm, then make his way back to my hand and then starts all over again, he isn't really makin any noise when he does it.

 

he is on his own in the cage so at first I thought he was playing, but he kinda bites a little hard to be playing and the flapping of the wings and bashing his beek against my hand like a wood pecker kinda changed my mind about that one. also if I talk to him he will fly over to the side of the cage closest to my face and look at me almost like he wants to get at my face, I have tried puting my face close to his to see if thats what he wanted but he didn't do anything he just looked at me as if to say "what"

 

I thought maybe he was being territorial

 

if anyone might have some idea's on what he might be doing that would be really helpfull and also any idea's on how to stop it :sad:

hmmmm... alot of biting budgies lately... and I'm still not sure what to tell you :sad: but the good news is... someone will!!! :(Laughing out loud):

Something is in the air. There are so many nasty birds out here lately. Is it SPRING ? We're a week away from Spring here in Canada ... do the Budgies got that Boogie Woogie Gotta DO MY THANG with anythang that moves thing happening in their little hormonal tempted noggins ? And do they all gotta show their sexual aggression thru chewing ?

 

I say we need a " DOCTOR PHIL " ... Doctor Phil of Budgies .... he should set us all straight on what is happening here. I for one am perplexed. But then ... perplexed is a rather large word for me & I'm sure it really means I NEED CAKE.

 

Anyone have an idea where we can get us a link to" Dr Phil the BIRD BRAIN ? "

 

 

Good luck Juleslou ... don't get to close to the cage. Invest in a large LOCK & Chain to keep the Zombie Budgie contained until help comes.

In Reading your post I'd say your little Nibbler is trying to flirt with you in an odd way. It's as if he doesn't know how to flirt properly. How is he with your other birds???

Yes in all seriousness, Liv is right he is just being flirty...with spring coming our way the birds sense breeding season is on the way. I know that fall is on the way for you but if you decrease his daylight hours and ensure he is covered 10-12 hours a day and you can increase a couple hours more for a week this behavior will stop.

Well .... I guess what they say is true. LOVE HURTS.

Liv nibbler isn't with my other birds at all, my other birds are in a large cage outside and nibbler is a inside bird, and if that is flirting thank god I'm not a bird coz thats rather painful flirting, I thought he might have been doing that but I thought they tended to talk and chirp and all that stuff when they flirted? because he really doesn't make any noise at all when he does it

Okay .... no no I'm onto something here. I know there were silent movies & the men wore all that dark eye liner & were wooing all the women outta their huge silky knee length bloomers. That's what I'm talking about. You know them movies ... the guys were slicked black haired dreamy not McDreamy ... but dreamy kinda Lance Romance guys like ... Cary Grant, Errol Flynn, Gary Copper, Fatty Arbuckle. Well ... okay ... not so much Fatty. But you get my idea. These guys were all silent, wiggle their eyebrows once or twice ... give a deep look at the ladies & the next thing you know ... babys were crying in the next scene.

 

That's YOUR NIBLET ! He's just one of them kinda guys ! He's got it bad for ya.

 

Niblet is just being a Silent Stalker type ... he's trying to get your attention ... little tickle ... little nibble ... hop hop hop up the arm ... little bite ... little chew ... hop hop hop ... closer to the face ... look you in the eye ... make you swooon !

 

Presto. He's going to look you in the eye & make your BVD'S or your Fruit of the Looms hit the floor. Dim the lights baby ..... Niblet wants your action.

 

Can you put this on video ? Send it to me ... I could make a killing on YOUTube with it.

There's something in the air Neat ... might be Global Warming ... or the smell of vegamite cake. It's turned all our new young budgies in to Zombie Blood craving Beasts.

 

HEY ... maybe the millet is a new breed & has a nasty drug in it. It's making all our new budgies ZOMBIES .... !

 

DANG ... we have Millet Farms here in Ontario. One of the biggest mass producers of the Millet World. I think they are trying to take over the WORLD. LOOK OUT EVERYBODY ... its a MILLET PANDEMIC.

 

I need a nice cuppa hot milk with some honey. That should settle me down a little.
