He has settled in really well ( quarantined ) he loves his daily mist baths and is really funny as he drink the water off the cage???? ... I am sure that he is a sky blue opaine? Am i correct in that

A great new addition for you. Good on you for taking him!

He is a sky spangle, but does appear to have an "opalesence" through the back of his head/shoulders, but i wouldn't call him an opaline spangle

He is a spangle.

He is not a opaline spangle otherwise the black markings on his wings would be blue.

Nice bird!

Hi Neat,

I agree, he is a skyblue spangle and Libby is right about the "opalescence". It is a fault in exhibition budgies and an 'undesired' trait. He is an absolutely gorgeous bird... I would have been really happy to have him.

Having opalescence doesn't make him a opaline.
