Something About His Stance

Hey all,

I was out checking nest boxes and sitting outside watching the birds frolic in the aviary when I spied my nice YF grey, called Graye... this is a photo from last year.

There was something about his stance that worried me, so, not wanting to take any chances I caught him, checked him over and decided he could do a stint in the hospital cage. He looked nice and clean, no poopy butt, but he was a bit thin for my liking. (This is a bird I was going to suggest to Kaz that we do a joint breeding program with).

He got a crop dose of Poly-Aid Plus before going into the hospital cage where I can keep an eye on him. There is absolutely nothing wrong with his appetite, he has been eating quite a bit since going in. Poops look normal. He can stay until morning when I will check him over again.

He might have been hit a little hard by the moult Feathers. A few of my boys looked a little thin after moulting this year and the heat doesnt help much either. No actual signs like you say, but looking a little tall and thinner some of them.

I would welcome him here when he is ready.....maybe with this gorgeous one 2004_0101newgirls0018.jpg

Hey Feathers,

My Margoo has done the same thing gotten thinner there is not signs of illness and the Vet check was A okay... Could only put mine down to him feeding the babies.... as all the others are fine so i didn't think it could be heat however he is now 4

They might have the going light disease,or need to be wormed.

Hi again,

Kaz, he has a great blow but need work in the mask area, so maybe pick according to that feature.

I really don't think he is sick at all, just being overly cautios and the poly-aid will help.

My birds were wormed in spring, so they should be fine... they are on concrete.

hope he is feeling better, I noticed that Merlin really gets under the weather when he is molting too
