March 11, 200817 yr Great photos Kaz,it is funny how all the boys hang out toether.I love custards boy,he is so handsome!
March 12, 200817 yr Author Big cleanup in the birdroom today. I assembled some new cages I got off ebay and set up another 6 pairs for breeding. The birds in the aviary are in peak condition and dying to partner up. I currently have 30 breeder cages in use. In a nestbox with grey green opaline hen and a grey green normal cock split recessive....I have two chicks. One is a little yellow recessive pied and the other appears to be a grey normal The recessive and the grey NOTE the "split to recessive" spot on his head ?? Two chicks out of the nest today....the grey green spangle in the nest with b*tch but I put it back. and one of the little lacewing chicks...way too soon....so it went back too.
March 12, 200817 yr Kaz, the recessive bub looks fantastic! The budgies certainly are going absolutely crazy at the moment, aren't they. I have kissy, smoochy, partner preening budgies absolutely eveywhere. Feathers.
March 12, 200817 yr I find it amazing that you can tell what a baby is even that early on... I can't wait to be able to do that in 20 years :(Laughing out loud): The babies are gorgeous...

If you stick around here JimmyBanks you will figure it all out in no time. I began here just 2 years ago and knew nothing ! nothing ! and now................
March 12, 200817 yr Kaz, your photos are stunning... and your birds all look happy as ever. The chicks are looking great too!! I can't wait when those lacewings are fully feathered. Do you have another thread with pictures of your aviary and bird room setup? I'm curious to see it, because it sounds really nice with the birds so content and spoiled.

I am currently amidst building a new birdoom and fights so I have reduced the flights from two large ones to just one large one and the birdroom has a bit too much congestion in right now until the new one goes up, so I wont be doing photos again until the new birdroom and new flights.
March 13, 200817 yr Author I bought three new guys ( pet size and types ) recently and these are them
March 13, 200817 yr loving all the pictures. your lacewings are so cute. I hope all is going well with your bird room building
March 13, 200817 yr Kaz, do you have any front on pics of that new one you bought, the first picture. It appears very dark. Is it a grey?
March 13, 200817 yr Some really nice birds you have there KAZ. Pitty I'm too far away to buy some of your culls as they would add to my birds features nicely. (I have to get up off my lazy butt & post some pictures one day)
March 13, 200817 yr Author Kaz, do you have any front on pics of that new one you bought, the first picture. It appears very dark. Is it a grey? Its a mauve BUT very very dark...almost slate like. I bought her for her dark factor and with certain pet type breeding birds in the aviary.
March 13, 200817 yr your buying, your breeding... any time to sleep  the new additions are great.
March 14, 200817 yr Author your buying, your breeding... any time to sleep the new additions are great.Somewhere between midnight and 6:30 am when the bird noise wakes me up ******************************************************************************* updates. This cute little chickie is turning out really nice. Here it is now ... only its nestmate B*tch bit its wing yesterday and it lost 3 flight feathers on its wing. This is a cute little cinnamon green spangle hen that a top breeder gave me when he had had too many glasses of wine that afternoon. She was then 7 weeks old and from his top bloodlines. She is moulting and scruffy but will turn out okay. This nice pair were in a breeder cage but the hen wouldnt play ball so after the budgie show this weekend I will find him another hen and put him down to breed with the new girl Siblings of EARLs clutch of opaline youngsters. March 14, 200817 yr I think so because I don't remember them so defined I just love when they have such a contrast vs the lighter not so sharp markings.

Happy nest box contruction! Some more great birds there Kaz... I was going to say that second one looked a bit odd, esp the wings etc... Cute none the less though. Happy nest box contruction!
March 14, 200817 yr Author I think I will have to pull this one out or remove the mother. I am not sure who is doing what but this poor thing has just lost some more wing flights...pulled out and broken and bleeding. I think I will put the chicks on the floor of the breeder cage and then remove the mother....just in case.
March 14, 200817 yr Kaz, I was going to ask how your buff "feather duster" worked out. She is looking GREAT! I really like your cobalt/violet pair. Is that Bleu? The first chick you posted earlier looks fantastic. Please remind me to visit that breeder when he is drinking. What wines does he like.. I'll bring extra! Feathers.
