Posted March 8, 200817 yr I go on and on often about Charley and his small talk. But now I just want to share with you how he's grown up. When I got him 7 months ago he looked like a French (oo-la-la-la) Moulter, a creeper. He had no flight feathers and a scungy ratty bit at the end of his body which was I think meant to be a tail. At about 10 weeks old (I guessed) he looked like this.... http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x112/tm...eytherunner.jpg now, at 7 months old voila!!...he has feathered up and grown up nicely.. dont you think? http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x112/tm...ygrowingup3.jpg http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x112/tm...eygrowingup.jpg and here he is pretending to be a fluffy baby again!!! http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x112/tm...ygrowingup2.jpg I thought he may originally have just been clipped and not suffering French Moult however would he then have had such a manky tail??? :hap:
March 8, 200817 yr now, if you can indulge a beginner... is Charley known as a Dark eyed clear? I'm trying to get my head around different breeding lingo....

March 8, 200817 yr but isn't he all white? or am I blind? and if they are both all white what characteristics are different with a black eyed clear body and a grey spangle?:(Laughing out loud): don't worry bout me... must need sleep... I just looked at the pictures again... I'm an idiot.

Dark eyed clear looks the same as an albino but has black eyes Albino in the left - dark eyed clear on the right Grey spangle Edited August 15, 200816 yr by **Liv**
March 8, 200817 yr Spangle is because of the markings on the wings right??? and grey because of his colour obviously (Laughing out loud). not clear bodied :hap:
March 8, 200817 yr Spangle is because of the markings on the wings right??? and grey because of his colour obviously (Laughing out loud). not clear bodied :hap: You got it! But Also they are SPANGLE markings on his wings. They can have many different types and in time you will get to know the differences between them... Take a look at the Budgie Mutations Varieties and genetics area You will find lots of helpful info in there Edited March 8, 200817 yr by **Liv**
March 8, 200817 yr yeah I read there and I go away totally confused (Laughing out loud). I'm like but this looks like that and they are all certain its this not that. Getting back on topic though I think Charley is a very goodlooking bird.
March 8, 200817 yr I'm not a show breeder so I can't comment on his official "quality". however, I think he looks very nice :hap: I have been told my grey spangle in the picture i posted could do okay at a low level in a show.... Edited March 8, 200817 yr by **Liv**
March 8, 200817 yr Author thanks guys. He does look similar (colour and markings) to your Grey Spangle, Liv. I think the grey is very pretty, he's merely a pet though and was quite shabby looking when I got him, but he was extremely tame even then and started talking within about 2 weeks. So I'm more than in love with the little guy! :hap: I started teaching him a few new words yesterday (he currently has about 10 words and phrases in his vocabulary).. The new words are "what are you doing?" which he is already attempting and is saying "what tummy doing" or "pretty pretty doing", wont take long to pick it up. Usually a few days. I'm also teaching him "LET ME OUT!!" which i think would sound rather comical. (I'm thinking if I ever get broken in to and the burglar hears the talking from the bedroom.. ie. "what are you doing??? scratch my tummy.. LET ME OUT!!" it will hopefully scare the pants off the burglar and he'll drop what he's got and head for the door!!) : :
March 8, 200817 yr He's a beautiful bird .... I like the look. He is definately some kinda OOH LA LA ! TRE MAGNIFIQUE ! I think you should teach him to say " WHERES MY CAKE ? " Or how about ... " HERE KITTY KITTY KITTY CHARLIE'S HONGRY FOR LE CHAT ! "

March 8, 200817 yr Thk, Charlie is a stunner, with or without his 'manky' tail. What a funny little character he is, and very clever too! Feathers.
March 8, 200817 yr Charlie has evolved into a stunning bird !! I love him. He seems possibly to be a cinnamon spangle ? ....his wing markings seem to be brownish to me. Could be a monitor thing. Amazing transformation.
March 8, 200817 yr Charlie speaking to les Chat, " Bonjour Chat de Kitty... Charlie aimerait vous faire le dîner. " tranlation ... " Good day Kitty Cat... Charlie would like to make you dinner. " Charlie seems to be a fast learner, " parlez-vous Charlie français ? " means .... Do you Speak French Charlie ? Or how about .... " Charlie veut mâcher un grand chat gros ? Très Bon! " means ....
