Is Blinky Still A Girl?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

We bought our budgie Blinky in November (think aged 12 weeks). As she was our first budgie I posted a few questions which you all kindly helped. After including some photographs, most members thought she was a girl.

Here's the latest photo of Blinky - but with what appears to be a blue cere .. mmmm, what do you think? I think she'd be about 8 mths old now - should it be turning brown / pink by now?. But "just" above her cere, on her feather line it's brown

Also, the little "tuffs" of feathers around her face - what are they? Or just where she's lost her "baby" feathers?

Many thanks

Sue :D

I wouldn't be much help even if I could see the picture but for some reason I can't see it... so I'll remain no help.

you did not post a photo...

Hi,

So sorry, I'm new here and I'm having trouble posting the photos .. put them in using photobucket and the tree-like "insert link" button - I see them in the body of the post, but not in preview.

See in Libby's Signature, there is a link called "how to post pictures" you should find all the info you need in there :D

there's no link to your photo in your post, if worst comes to worst Pm your photobucket account to me and direct me to the photo you wish to be uploaded and i'll add it into your post for you :D

Done :hap: Looks like a hen to me :)

Yes Hen , the feathers are new ones as she looks to be moulting , after this moult her cere will colour up fully.

Thanks so much for your help .. especially Libby for adding the pix (ps, do you know what I was doing wrong? :hap: )

I know it's blue :hap: but it's a pale white/blue with white rings around the nostrils, indicating hen :hap:bigv.jpg - My young big violet hen when out of condition...PICT0400.jpg hen now in condition and breeding :DHope that helps Liv :)

Honestly, i have no idea what you were doing wrong! (Laughing out loud)... Were you adding in the insert image box the direct link ?

Thanks Libby, that is really helpful :D

Great photos, and i can clearly see the difference compaired to the male :D

If Blinky is shaving her legs & dotting a little Eau de Pepperminte`de Parakeete` behind her knees ... then I would say she is still a girl.

Saucy little Flirt she is. :P
