Stubborn Budgie!

I offer Custard a bath every day and she wont have any of it! Up until last week i was giving her fresh tepid water in her bath dish at the bottom of her cage every morning after the school run, but she wouldnt go near it so tried it on my dinner table (her favorite landing spot) to see if it would help. It didnt! Ive tried enticing her by putting a ring of millet round the edge but she seems to be one step ahead of me and hovers just above the bath to eat the millet.

Any ideas???

Try putting some washed grass in it. Also mine prefer to bathe on the windowsill and won't bathe in the cage. What about a dish on top of the cage?

A dish on the top of the cage could be a little difficult as its a funny shape and i dont actually have a windowsill just a wall of windows instead. But will try the grass one for a few days. Thanks for the advice and i'll let you know how she goes.

I agree with what Julie says, and also, try putting lettuce leaves or spinnach leaves in the water at the bottom of the bath. This tempted both my budgies to start bathing. I also use slightly warm water for the bath aswel, Teapot wuldnt even dip his toe in if i used cold!

Hi people,

Thanks for the advice have tried the grass and lettuce leaves in the warm water and the lettuce leaves got a little interest - didnt dare have a dip but did have a look so will keep you informed on the progress.

Get some carrot tops or a colorful lettuce (like red leaf or romaine) wet so it drips just a little and clip it on the top of the cage so that it hangs down into the cage. If you put it near a perch, they may be enticed to take a "hanging bath", which is very entertaining to watch, by the way...

Thanks Rainbow will try that too, they like their daily shower so they may be more likely to try that one.
