The egg on the right and the egg at the top of picture are the double yolkers

No 5 egg im still waiting to see if it is fertile

And I just thought of something if they do hatch and they are twins , im not going to be able to tell because they will be all lutinos

Those eggs look huge... you sure your not breeding chickens? :(Laughing out loud):

You could get some natural hair dye and dye their 'tail feathers' :)

(please note... the above comment is a joke. You should never dye your budgies feathers!!!)

Added note.

:) :hap: Now that will be an interesting dilema to have... there must be a way to mark them for the first few days just until you can get a ring on them...

Apparently you can use tipex ( whiteout or liquid paper ) on their butt to mark them :)

Non toxic Texta (marker) on one foot will do the trick a breeder I know does that with a few Love birds and Etc when trying to sex them

Please update with pix of the twins

I hope you have some luck with some of those double yolkers hatching, Lonebudgie, but it’s supposed to be rare that they succeed, as the chicks get tangled up.

Re Kaz’s HOW MANY BUDGIE EGGS MAKE AN OMLLETE…then there’s four & twenty black birds baked in a pie…then when I put those chicks of mine in a stock pot [that doesn’t work any more] to take their picture I wondered HOW MANY BUDGIES DOES IT TAKE TO MAKE A CASSEROLE…being silly now… :fear

This is an egg from my sky spangle hen I bought last year , Her very first nest had 6 eggs but they wernt fertile. Of the six eggs 2 eggs were double yolkers.

Ive had double yolk eggs before in the past but have never been able to hatch them , I have read that some people have been able to hatch them .

So her second round is under way and she has laid 3 eggs

First normal , not fertile

Second a double yolker and fertile

Third a double yolker but hasnt yet coloured up yet .

Heres a picture of the egg , if you look closley you can see the yolks one at each end, and you can see the blood veins forming.

An update on the double yolkers ,

Unfortunately no eggs hatched , the fertile egg went addled at the 2nd week and all the others were not fertile , Maybe next time .

Also after all the double yolkers the next rounds I havent had one Double yolker yet ,

Oh... how disapointing. Obviously just wasn't meant to be. :(

sorry to hear this news.. :( nature has it's reasons though.
