Posted March 1, 200817 yr Hi everyone.... I am reading over and over again about the genetics and i just can't grasp it.... I am trying to produce Mauve Babies - which i understand are the darkest blue .... Am I better off having a colbalt and a skyblue or another colbalt to make it Darker blue or will I just keep getting Colbalts .... All advice is highly appreciated but please but it in kindy terms ... thank you so very much ...... *neat goes back to reading more :book:
March 1, 200817 yr To breed Mauves you need to pair cobalt to cobalt. This will give 50% Cobalt, 25% Sky Blue and 25% Mauve.
March 3, 200817 yr As Daz stated a cobalt to cobalt pairing will work well for you. It takes 2 dark factors (one from each parent) to produce a mauve (double dark factor), however the sky has no dark factors, cobalts have 1 dark factor and mauve has 2 dark factors. Your only options would be a cobalt/cobalt (25% mauves), cobalt/mauve (50% mauve) or mauve/mauve (100% mauve) pairings. No sky pairings can produce mauves. Hope that helps.
March 3, 200817 yr Author UNREAL !!! *Neat needs to go shopping for a colbalt / violet Male ..... ( Prince will make a great foster dad my doesn't have any good swimmers )
March 4, 200817 yr Hi Neat, Some people have a lateral thinking brain and others don't. Some people 'get' rubiks cubes, others have no hope. So it is with genetics. My best advice is to do what you have done and just ask how to get thre result you want. You could look at all the boxes and the letters in them and just get more and more confused. It's not worth the brain strain! D Feathers.
March 4, 200817 yr Author Thanks Feathers, I just couldn't do it ( Bad head trauma in 2000) since then memory and etc are **** ..... But here is what this dude said in the uk breeding violets -- you require one visual violet and one sky blue this pairing will breed you four colours 25% will be sky blue 25% cobalt 25% skyblue sf 25% cobalt sf which are visual violets the single factor sky blues will be a deeper colour then a normal skyblue. using a cobalt to a visual violet will breed you the same colourd above and also mauves. most violets are bred by accident in birdrooms that carry dark factor birds,i have one this year bred out of a dark green violet cock that i had no idea was a violet. I will just go with the flow i think
