Hi there, my name is Derricka and I too am a new member and was just wanting to say hello to like minded people. I have 3 budgies. The girl is Billi, she is about 4 years old. The boy is Oscar and he is a bit over 1 year old. They have just had their very first baby and he is (I think) a bit over a month old as his feathers have started to come in. They are brilliant parents. I don't know much about budgies or breeding but I am in the process of going through the info on this web site. So hopefully I won't remain ignorant for too long. I look forward to learning more.

Hi Derek i've moved you post here... as you were posting on another Thread :D

Hi and welcome to you and your budgies :) your bub appears a bit younger than 4 weeks old By The Way :)

P.s. well done on sizing your pictures right :D

WELCOME !!!

Beautiful & Healthy looking birds .... was there only 1 egg???

Hi Derricka,

Pleased to meet you, welcome to the forum. Your birds are beautiful!

Feathers.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Billi and Oscar are very sweet. As is their little one. Can I ask did Billi lay in the Basket you have in the pics? I've never seen that with budgies before, as they usually use nest boxes. Also, how many eggs did she lay? Did the others just not hatch?

I'm sure you learn heaps here... check out Budgie FAQ's, esp the breeding section. It has a lot of usefull info. Also remember, ask anything you want, as no question is ever silly :) Welcome again!

Hi thanks for the welcome.

Thanks for moving me to the right spot...I knew I'd get something wrong. :) Ha ha ha!

I did find another egg but it never hatched. No she didn't lay in the basket. I moved her out of the nesting box a week ago when I found cockroaches had infested it and I thought they might make the baby sick so I changed it but when I went to buy another they had none left and I was desperate for something and I thought I could use it. She doesn't seem to have a problem with it. Should I change it back to a nesting box again?

Hi and welcome to the forum, you have some very cute budgies :P .

If she is coping with the basket, leave it as is. The chick is about 2 weeks old not a month...time flies whern you are having fun :)

Good luck with all. Cute pictures and

we are happy to have you here. :D

Welcome to the forums, there is a wide variety of people here from all over the globe that have so much knowledge to give in different aspects of budgie care so you have come to the right place. Your birds are beautiful.

Cockroaches... :D . I'm glad I don't have an issue with them. I agree with Kaz. If mm and bub are happy with it, let it be. As to getting something wrong. You seem to be doing very well... esp getting your pics in your post AND at the correct size too!!! :hap:

:hap: Hello and welcome!!! Lots of great reading and topics on here posted by the experts so you can keep on top of everything. :D

On little thing to point out as well, is that 4 years old is getting to the furthest range that a hen should be breeding safely. Cocks can go to 5 or 6, but hens should be retired at around 4 yrs of age. Maybe this time might be her last ? :D

Hiya Derricka. :D This place is full of great posts about so many things to help with your Budgies and sometimes a bit of humour as well - a bonus in my book! I am so glad I found it and hope you find it of benefit to you as I am. Are most Budgie breeders in Oz in WA???

Hi there everyone, just thought I'd update the picture of baby for you all to see. We can now see some colours coming through. Looks like she/he is going to be blue and yellow like her mum. And what do you recken boy...or girl. I thought girl...but what do I know!!!! Ha ha.

And can anybody tell me what type billie and oscar are because for the life of me...even though I read all the info I can on the colours and mutations...it was like a foreign language. Maybe in time it won't be all over my head. :)

No photos again. If you are on photobucket click on the bottom line under the picture ...the IMG code. It will say copied and then just paste it into here. Assuming you have resized them to email/website size on photobucket ;)

Hopefully this has worked...If it doesn't I'm giving up...and will try tomorrow when my patience has returned...computers are very frustrating when they don't do what I want them to do. Thanks for the help.

I love this website...I've read so much that I even guessed right when it came to sexing my baby...and that is a big deal to me because before coming here I knew absolutely nothing. Thank you so much.

Now if someone would help tell me what type her parents are I'd really appreciate it.

Look forward to any replies.
