Thanks, Karthik I would call this behaviour a relaxed comfortable sleep.
March 1, 200817 yr Hi Karthik - I would call this NORMAL .... That is a budgie having a "Nanny Nap"you will find that if you are housing more then 1 they will all roughly Nap together ..... It's pretty funny the first time you see this some look like they have no heads : ) But this is a Normal, Happy Budgie snoozing
March 1, 200817 yr my budgie does this and he seems to love to relax like this it keeps them nice and warm to
March 1, 200817 yr Mine all sleep like this too. i think its adorable and they look so sweet i call it "all tucked up" - even my pet canary dose it too
March 1, 200817 yr Mine all do it. Below is a photo of my last clutch (few years ago now), not long after they fledged... names from left to right: John, Paul, George and Ringo It's very cute when they all do it... esp all lined up like this!
March 1, 200817 yr Author Thanks to everyone. I have seen this happening with most of the budgies, but only once in a while and not all the time. So I was under impression that this could be some sort of sign for illness. Some time back I have discussed this with one of the local breeder and as per him this is sign of fever or cold. So just wanted to make sure that this behaviour is not related to any illness. Edited March 1, 200817 yr by Karthik

March 2, 200817 yr Author It is not a sign of fever or illness. Your local breeder is very wrong Thanks Kaz for making this clear to me. :yellowhead:
March 2, 200817 yr It is not a sign of fever or illness. Your local breeder is very wrong OH, I don't know about that ... If your breeder is sleeping with his head stuck backwards & tucked under his arm pit ... Then I would say YOUR BREEDER IS SICK ! He is either seriously sick or a freaky contortionist. But fear not for yer budgies ... allot of Budgies sleep that way. I sometimes think they do it to block out sound or noise. Or sometimes they like to pretend they ain't payin attention to me & hide their heads like that & pretend they is sleepin .... But I see them sneakin a peek at me with one little black button eye .... They think I don't know what they are doing. But they can't fool me ! I ain't as dumb as a rock.
