There are more that know about baby budgies with beak deformities by when researching it the most common cause of beak deformities is caused from nutrition deficiencies. If you go to the website and read under Beak Deformities it explains the baby can be deficient in. I am NOT promoting the product just giving you some infomation Avian Website - Beak Problems

Hmmm.... That looks like it has had food caught inside the top part of the beak at one stage and has made the beak grow deformed..... I'm not really sure though ????

Still looks like a little cutie :wine

Different deformity Liv. The food caught scenario creates a top beak that sits inside the bottom beak. This budgie baby has another issue. I have never seen one like this. Possible deficiency like Elly has stated. Maybe it will grow out ?

I've never seen one like that also... Very odd... it does seem with time and growth it could possibly grow normally though :S ...

Do you think it will be able to crack seed when its older ????

Possibly :S who knows... we'll all have to wait and see if it's beak "grows" normally

It looks as though it would be quite soft atm :S

How old is the budgie and can it eat properly budgiegirl013?

Hello, the Budgie was born on the 30/1/08, and it hasn't come out of the nest box yet. Its crop seems to be full though, so its having no trouble being fed. Thank you for your answers.

I think the question is...will it be able to crack seed to feed itself. A full crop in the nest means parent fed. Later on when it has to feed itself, it may not be able to crack seed. You may have to offer soft food all the time to this one. It will need careful watching when it has to learn to eat.

That's good, but being fed by it's mother and father and cracking seed and eating on it's own are two very different things. Good luck and I hope it grows out over time.

keep us updated, I would look over the link I posted it has good information about nutritional deficiency at least if you treat it like it is and it doesn't fix it you have a healthier chick, you can't loose.
