Hi, I brought my Budgie 1 week ago and he seems to be setteling in okay. I brought him from a pet shop and is a baby bird. I asked how old and they said less then a year old. so im not to sure.

anyway, my question is that he allways goes to the bottom of the cage and runs around like a mad man then climbs all over everything then goes to the bottom of the cage again. running backwards and forwards and poping his head up and down. Is this normal?

Your budgie sounds like a real character. Does he have a name?? The behavior you mention is normal :yellowhead:. Your bird may have come from an aviary and not used to his new cage yet.

 

The pet shop mustn't have known what they were talking about when it comes to age. saying it's under a year is very vague. Has it got black bars on its forehead??? We love photos and if you can post a clear close up we will be able to tell you age/gender/type etc :bluebudgie:

His or her name is Soxey. Thanks for the reply. I will post a picture tomorrow.

Welcome, best to post pictures of Soxey and then we can see if we can determine is age. He sounds like quite a character and what he is doing is quite normal.

Soxey sounds fun and healthy Petshops hardly ever get their information right so you are best asking your questions here. Perhaps a photo of the cage too, just in case the shop sold you a cage too small ?Cheers kaz
