April 18, 200817 yr good! KAZ you know how to take care of your birds! It's all about being observant, making informed decisions and acting quickly most of the time Indz
April 18, 200817 yr Well...the foster Mum also failed to feed this little one and it was fading fast. I just fed it myself, whereupon it became much more lively. I found it a new foster mum and put it in there for the night to keep warm. Will check again in the morning. Good reasons to have a few pairs breeding at the same time. I have about 30 pairs breeding right now, so I had some choices of fosters. Fingers crossed....
April 18, 200817 yr You sure have a way about BOIDS Kaz ... it will all work out fine ! Darn George ... too good looking to know the basics of baby care. He's useless around kids he mentioned in a interview on a news rag the other day. He said Brad & Angelina can raise allll the kids they want ... he doesn't want anything to do with it. Kids make him nervous. It seems that Almira is still in the party mood too. She likes to boogie but not take care of the results. Not into being a mother yet. Maybe next season. She's the PARIS HILTON of your Budgie girls these days, Kaz.
April 18, 200817 yr i hope the chick makes it through the night for you and finds a foster mum to look after it.
April 19, 200817 yr It seems that Almira is still in the party mood too. She likes to boogie but not take care of the results. Not into being a mother yet. Maybe next season. She's the PARIS HILTON of your Budgie girls these days, Kaz. Amira ....YES....and she's BLONDE. The little chick didnt make it It died this morning. Edited April 19, 200817 yr by KAZ
April 19, 200817 yr The little chick didnt make it It died this morning. Awwe Kaz ... that's so sad, I'm sorry. I feel so bad for you. Let's hope the other one will be okay & you can watch the rest of the eggs & get them fostered out safely. Hugs to you !!!!!!
April 19, 200817 yr Sorry about that Kaz & Feathers, I know how it is when you have a special bird you want to get something out of & it doesn’t work out…maybe she will come good later. "Amira ....YES....and she's BLONDE." Kaz, please be sensative we have Blondes watching...not mentioning any names.

April 21, 200817 yr I just threw out the last three eggs as they were dead in shell. My estimate is due to her not sitting and incubating well enough. I have been advised by a top show breeder to try them again as she "needs to learn how to be a mother" . He said to put a slightly older pet type chick in with her first hatching so it screams loudly to be fed and she should learn from that....We had just one chick out of this and at least we know that George can fill an egg as he is supposed to. Better luck next round Meanwhile...we have two other pairs breeding from a joint breeding project from Feathers and myself...and we have eggs. So I will do some photos tomorrow and we can put them up and see how they do.
April 21, 200817 yr awww, sorry to hear about the other eggs, hopefully you'll have better luck next time. Good luck with the other joint breeding projects too...
April 22, 200817 yr That's a shame Kaz ... such high hopes for such a lovely pair of birds. At least we know George is a stud like he looks. He ain't "shootin blanks". Maybe Almira will catch on. Fingers & eyes crossed.
April 24, 200817 yr I just checked Amira and George's first and only surviving chick as its now getting feathers...it seems to be a grey spangle boy.
April 24, 200817 yr So Amira, must be masking Spangle…had to go all the way back to the start to see what they were. At least one is still going… does it look like possible show material Kaz? Good luck better use if for stud if you show it you’ll be fighting about who owns it…LOL…
April 24, 200817 yr I just checked Amira and George's first and only surviving chick as its now getting feathers...it seems to be a grey spangle hen. Can you tell already from this age what sex it will be ? How do you know Kaz ? The cere ? Or does it have a manly deep throated "CHEEP" ? Edited April 26, 200817 yr by KAZ

Good luck better use if for stud if you show it you’ll be fighting about who owns it…LOL…I am going to have another look at Amira.....the question I now have is she DF spangle or Albino ? Hard to say right now how the chick will turn out. So far looks tall and lanky. Feathers said to ring this chick with my legring so it has been, and the next chick is hers from any of the three pairs we are breeding together right now. I am ammending my sexing of this budgie baby...I was confused with another chick in the nest and this spangle is a hen. Edited April 26, 200817 yr by KAZ
April 24, 200817 yr Do you have threads on the other pairings? I'm having trouble keeping up... I hope oneday I'll be able to figure out what the chicks are straight away like you kaz... maybe one day...
April 24, 200817 yr So Amira, must be masking Spangle…had to go all the way back to the start to see what they were. Looks that way...I just went and checked in case Amira was a DF spangle...but she is definitely Albino. The chick has spangle wing markings and blueygrey tail feathers coming in...more grey than blue. Edited April 26, 200817 yr by KAZ
