Posted February 21, 200817 yr I have a grey spangled female that i want to pair with my normal blue male or a normal green male...... she has come into breeding condition as her cere has turned dark brown and she want to pair up with the blue male but the problem is both the males rum away from her when she goes near to them they show interest in other female that is already paired up but they dont show any interest in her rather look afraid of her. Any ideas what should i do
February 21, 200817 yr The dark brown cere is considered just past breeding condition as partway into the laying of eggs the hen will go out of condition. So the colouring just leading up to the darker cere is usually best. It sounds like you are pairing up in an aviary ? If you chose the hen and cock you want and put them in a seperate cage for breeding then the hen would settle into the idea of things once she saw the nestbox. They seem to know what they are there for then.

February 21, 200817 yr If you seperate them for breeding...one pair only to a cage they will focus and become happier with each other.
February 21, 200817 yr Could you post a picture of your aviary set up with the nesting boxes and then the closed breeding set up too. A lot of time when our breeders see the set-ups they can see that there may be something wrong there too.
