Preening.....

Featured Replies

Posted

My bird sits on my knee when he is preening himself and I have noticed little bits of what looks like skin, small little white pieces....

So I just want to know what this is and if I should be concerned or not.

Nope no concern, the white that you see is their skin and the downy feathers that they have. What a cutie :hap:

Thanks for help,I think he might be going through a moult because he has a head like a hedgehog........

I assume thats his new feathers coming through.......

:ygbudgie: Yes, those spikes would be new feathers coming in and that other stuff I call "budgie dandruff", it's perfectly normal, (or any bird for that matter does the same thing, cockatiels have a lot of dander), you should see my shoulders sometimes! :hap:

Oh yes the spikey head look (Laughing out loud) those are called pin feathers and the sheath will come off and he will look beautiful once again :hap:
