Can you predict the colours and sex of the babies while still in the nest. Patience!!!!!!! , Good food and clean water a must , if your birds are in good condition then your chances of breeding are better. Are you going to avairy breed or cabinet breed ? If you avairy breed you will have no chance of predicting colours , In cabinets you can depending on parents and their genetic make up , as for picking what sex , yes you can but experience is the key here and to know what to look for . Hi and welcome to the forum Edited February 13, 200817 yr by lonebudgie
February 13, 200817 yr Hi and welcome, Lonebudgie is right You can predict Roughly or sometimes Definatly what babies will be, but it takes time and to learn genetics of both birds and the rules which apply to them Welcome to the forum!
February 13, 200817 yr I really want to know is there a secret to breeding budgies. Can you predict the colours and sex of the babies while still in the nest. Hi Samantha, Welcome to the forum Yes there is a way... It is called experience. I pick the sex at 3 weeks but some can do it earlier. I've only had two years experience and have a lot to learn. By knowing the back ground of the birds you can get a good idea of the colours before they feather up... but there is always surprises.
February 13, 200817 yr Hi Samantha and welcome. I haven't much breeding experience, but you've come to the right place for advice. Good Luck!
February 13, 200817 yr Welcome to the forum. I believe the secert to good budgie breeding is "knowledge" and knowing what you are going to do with the babies afterward. Since there are so many homeless budgies out there (and pets) ensuring as best as you can a wonderful place to live. Welcome to our forum. Edited February 13, 200817 yr by Elly
February 13, 200817 yr Author Thanks for your avise everyone but one thing I have just bred into the third genoration of my budgies.
February 13, 200817 yr By bred into the third generation of your birds, what exactly do you mean? As in inbreed :S ?
February 14, 200817 yr I agree with all, plenty of food, fresh water also provide calcium like cuttlefishbone found in all pet stores & a place to lay their eggs(nest box). Then you sit back & let mother nature take it's course.
