Posted February 8, 200817 yr I have just recently ordered some products from Vetafarm (they're fantastic). Amongst my order was a crop needle. I have not used one before and WILL NOT be using it until I'm show how by a breeder or vet! My question is where do I purchase the syringes from to administer the medication etc... from? It says it fits all luer tapered syringes, but I'm just not sure where to find them. Any ideas would be great. (I'm happy to buy online too) Thanks guys xxx P.S. They have this one at Vetafarm. Would this be my best option or would dispossible ones be better? Product Name: REUSABLE FEEDING SYRINGE Product Size: 10mL Price (AUD): $19.60 Available Sizes: 10mL, 20mL, 30mL, 50mL Directions: For the administration of feeds and medicines to birds via a crop needle. The nozzle of the syringe has been predrilled to 3 mm to allow easy flow of material and prevent clogging. To fill either draw feed up through nozzle or unscrew end of syringe, remove plunger and fill. Replace end of syringe, expell air and then feed. Notes: Rugged plastic and stainless steel constructed REUSABLE syringe with screw collar to lock needle in place.

In my conversation with Libby, she also mentioned she uses a smaller one for the young/smaller ones... As I only had adult budgies and tiels, I think the 14 gauge one should do me for now. Cheers!!!
February 8, 200817 yr Just ask for a syringe...they will ask you what size...ask to look at them work out what you like. I keep a few smaller ones and some bigger ones. I like to always have spares as they stuff up every now and then at the worst times. But they are very cheap so it pays to keep spares on hand. I tell the chemist I am feeding baby birds. They are used to requests for syringes so they won't look at you like you are a drug addict :grbud: ( that was my first thought when I first asked anyway ) Edited February 8, 200817 yr by KAZ

February 8, 200817 yr I have two boxes of 100 five ml syringes that i use My grampy who recently passed away was a doctor so we received all his medical supplies from his surgery, As i hand rear so many birds they've really come in handy (almost through a box of 100 already) Like Kaz said, they do stuff up VERY often and a new one is required, individually at my local chemist a 3 ml syringe is 70c a pop :grbud: (local price where i am only though) hope that helps
