Budgie Training

:grbud: Hi there eveyone im fairly new to budgies so i am needing some help,i bought a baby bugdie 1 week ago and i started training it straight away. I can get it on my finger, but not for very long. Most of the time it just scatters along the perches when i try to get it on my finger. and sometimes i accidentally push it off the perch because i slowly push under it's belly and it doesn't move. Am i doing everything right? will it come around to me and become tame? it doesnt run away from me unless im touching it, its not really scared of my hand but it doesnt like to jump on it. If u were wondering its called felix

Sounds like you are doing great :(Laughing out loud):

It's only early days and the fact that he/she not scared of you means that it is just a matter of time before he/she jumps on your finger :grbud:

I wrote up a training article in the FAQ about how I trained Pretty and it goes into a lot of depth more then I could do here. Spend as much time as you can with your new friend. The one thing I did with Pretty is because his cage was smaller at the time is I always had him by me in his cage (I have 3 cats so I couldn't just let him out 24/7) but because of this he became so familar with me and trusted me not only with my hands on the inside of the cage but everything else too :grbud:.

Hi and welcome, as Elly suggested the FAQ's are a great place to start ;) .

Keep us updated and if you have more questions let us know :D

I have been using Elly's techniques from the FAQ section for about a week now and last night my baby Coco ate millett from my hand for the first time - just be patient, it really does work. Thanks Elly -_-

That is awesome news Tam (claps) :D

:ygbudgie: Good news with your progress with Felix, I have been trying that with my foster budgie and she is getting better with everything as well. :D
