but the problem is, i love all the colours so much i dont know which i'd like to get!

i am fond of pieds, both blue and green, but they are all so nice. what are your suggestions for a pair? Id like to get the largest range in the chicks as possible !

go to your local breeder or pet shop and fall in love with one you see , dont worry bout colour let them picture you .

If you like interesting colours go for pieds. Recessive pieds are nice. :glare:

i guess your right , its easy to worry about these things when there arent any budgies in front of you, but who knows who'll take my fancy :feedbirds:

Green is dominant so unless it is split for blue you would get green series everything. A yellow and green clearwing isnt yellowface. Yellow is the base colour of a green clearwing so that why the yellowface.

Also if you can possible find a good breeder instead of a pet shop where many budgies are milled to death in their breeding and can carry genetic issues, are not as strong or healthy etc... When I think of breeding I think of breeding healthy chicks first and then the colors come into play that is very important.

Id go a blue Dom pied and a green spangle split blue. Maybe with both carrying recessive or Ino!!

You could get blue or green Dom pieds and spangles. Even a YF blue instead of a normal blue.

hmm yes i might get two blue series, and i still might get green chicks? (im terrible at genetics !) And Kaz what i meant was clearwing and yf as two different mutations.. if they can clash :grbud:

 

Elly i whole heartedly agree with you and im on the lookout for a good breeder.im often dissapointed by the health quality of pet shop birds, and im very against animal cruelty in all its forms. :angel1:

I know that the right birds will be the right birds no matter what colour, but im the kind of person who overplans everything, its kind of like daydreaming :feedbirds:

No 2 blue birds wont give green chicks- only blue.

 

And KAz I nearly had my hand up for one of those YF blue babies for my mum, they are tooooo cute. (the ones in the pics section)
