August 13, 200816 yr Author We have put a claim in for the damaged bumper and now have to get quotes for repair and rechroming. They are saying it was the government employed cleaning contractors that are the ones who steamcleaned the car and caused damage. I have bought some new fabric to reupholster all the internal area that got ruined and I am about to sit down and sew now. Should all look great within another week...new upholstery and carpet...all pretty again. I also have to buy new ply for the floor and cut it all out with the holes for all the fittings ( casket rollers etc ). My job as I am better with this than Ken.  PS Ken went to "fix things" on the hearse on Saturday...First thing he did to fix things was move the car....ran into the carport post and put a major dent in the front right fender....so now it needs a panelbeater. Second thing he went to fix was the tail lights....to rewire to Australian standards... he broke the original tail light lenses using a drill and slipped cracking it into two pieces  I told him to STOP FIXING THINGS !!
August 13, 200816 yr Author No more fixing stuff.............men :P Â Ken says this hearse is HIS :hap:
August 13, 200816 yr Author Reckon he'll be in it if thats how he fixes things thats what I told him !!

Cheeky grins are always forgivable  PS besides the damages come out of his pocket and that alone might make him more careful next time.

September 7, 200816 yr Author Update....we have been invited to a special event on Saturday run by a motorcycle club called the UGLY FARMERS ORGANISATION ( UFO ). The event will be held at a beachside town up the coast about an hours drive away. There will be classic cars, customs, hotrods, motorbikes, choppers and a band, food, stalls and entertainment. Trophies will be awarded for various reasons. We met up with one of the organisers once when I was taking my daughter to the doctors during her recuperation from back surgery. He fell in love with the car and has gone to great lengths to get us to attend. They desperately want us to come in MORGANA our 1959 Cadillac Hearse, but we are currently trying to get MS LILY the white 1964 Cadillac Hearse ready also to take two hearses. BUT as Ms Lily ( the 64 ) still has to be rebuilt from her horrible experience at the hands of customs and quarantine...we have our work cut out for us. We were lucky to meet up with a young man ( through budgie club contacts ) who has just this weekend completed some rust removal and repaint of the rear end. We have had the bumper repaired also and rechromed. The carbie has been rebuilt and the motor now needs a tuneup and some electrical work needs to be done. My job this week is to do the carpet and woodwork in the back, and all the upholstery and refit by end of Friday. As the young man who did the panel and paintwork has pulled out all stops to help us with this we have offered to take him and his partner with us if we can get both beasts ready for the drive. In light of this and his great enthusiasm for these cars, he has offered to do anything he can to help us get ready, including coming every night after work this week to help work on the 64 hearse. Fingers crossed we will make it. Â PS wont have it registered but we can drive it on a permit for the day.
September 7, 200816 yr Excellent, as usually you are booked with work work and more work...I can't wait to see the end result. Have fun.
