Beak Grinding

Featured Replies

Bing has only been with me for 3 and a half days and he/she is grinding his/her beak alot is this because its comfortable and happy or some other health problem and it also makes these poof noises, almost like a fart either after eating millet or being on my finger, is that good?

thanks

That is all normal the poof noise is like sneezes or such that get the dusting of the millet off their beak mine too that too. The grinding is a form of contentment.

Check that Bing hasn't got beak mite that could be irritating him, any gasping or coughing can be a sign of worms Gapeworm (syngamus) to be exact. So worm the birds. Or he may just be content.

:ygbudgie: You have a cuttlebone in the cage I am sure and could probably also add some sort of beak block. My lovebirds love to grind their beaks slightly sometimes when they are on me (like a cat purrs when they are contented). :budgiedance:
