Posted January 31, 200817 yr Here's my first two homemade coconut toys (i spent the weekend opening and emptying coconuts, hehe)! Tiels get the first, budgies get the second (cause the tiels would have those shredder pieces off in seconds, the budgies might take a whole day, (Laughing out loud)). The tiels threw everything out of their coconut foraging toy within a few minutes. I can see it'll be a great game of we throw, you pick up.
January 31, 200817 yr Great stuff Bea... LOVE them!!! I saw some coconuts at the supermarket and was nearly going to get them. What did you do with the flesh and juice?
January 31, 200817 yr wow they look really good Bea... you should mass produce them and sell them, i would buy one
January 31, 200817 yr Author Great stuff Bea... LOVE them!!! I saw some coconuts at the supermarket and was nearly going to get them. What did you do with the flesh and juice? They were only $2 each from woolworths, i wanted the shells so i got a few. I tried the juice and flesh, hated it :(Laughing out loud):, froze some of the flesh for the birds and chucked the rest. They weren't expensive so it didn't bother me that much. Gracie really likes the flesh, and i'm sure the aviary budgies will eat it too. Edited January 31, 200817 yr by Bea
January 31, 200817 yr Yeah, that was my thought! Pretty cheap. I think I'll pick some up and try them with the flesh. i've tried it in the past... YUCK!!!
January 31, 200817 yr They look awesome Bea!!! you're so creative! Bet my birds would be feeling ripped off right now if they could see those
January 31, 200817 yr They're great Bea BUT if this one was in my aviary there'd be eggs in it in no time :D
January 31, 200817 yr I was thinking the same about my avairy Kaz... I reakin I'd need to upturn the bottom one to avoid any un needwanted 'bubs' Especially the way Tweet Tweet is r****** around (Laughing out loud)
January 31, 200817 yr Author Well eggs shouldn't be a problem with my boys!! :(Laughing out loud): And the one for the tiels is a bit small for them to get into for that purpose. It did cross my mind to make one for the aviary birds, but almost immediately i thought BAD IDEA!!
January 31, 200817 yr Huh, my guys get the milk from the coconuts and also the flesh and love it, never thought to keep the shell will have to do that and make some more, which reminds me it's time to change the toys around this weekend! Yeah!
January 31, 200817 yr Very cool Bea. I have one like that too. I used to put dry type of food in it for the birds the only thing is it wasn't very stable so a lot feel to the ground.
