hi all,

I have spent the last week or so reading almost every post on this forum and juat wanted to ask what does putting in an abundance of food do to a budgie is it bad to do this? We have 2 birds and have a huge bowl of seed in the cage for them should I reduce this in size?

Budgies dont really dig deep in a bowl for seed so a huge bowl isnt very good. Husks sit on the top and make it look full when it isnt. Flat shallow tray or smaller dishes work better and change often like once or twice a day. Sometimes a convenience factor for us isnt always whats best for the budgie. :yellowhead:

You'd be better off with a smaller dish,something a bit flatter.Sometimes what looks like seed is actually husks on top of the food,and check it often.Also you dont really want poo in the food either,this can cause other problems.So use a smaller ,flatter bowl,the bigger the bowl the more likely they are to sit in it instead of on the floor next to it.Hope this was helpful.
