January 31, 200817 yr Author Ally............please tell me1. Can you easily access the nestbox for twice daily inspection without major upheaval to the nestbox ? 2. Can you please stop moving the cage around places if you want the eggs to be safe and the pair to continue breeding for you. 3. Eggs are laid 2 days apart. How come you suddenly have 2 eggs ? 1. I can now since I moved it down, before I could only look in the side gap, I couldnt raise the lid because it hit the top of the cage, and it is dark in there so I just didnt see them... 2. so I shouldnt move them outside each day any more...... 3. the nest box has been in there 2 days, so she must have laid straight away, stupid but I didnt think that they would be so small, I didnt think about size, I guess I was looking for a chook egg (what a twit I am ) I wouldnt have moved the box if I knew but thats when I saw them, I wanted to put in shavings and make sure it was tied on properly and couldnt move at all. The good news is she has gone back in already, after sitting ontop of it for awhile, now I'm worried I damaged them when I moved it, I was very careful when I put it back but I'm a worry ward.

Now you can raise the lid and see easily ? Now that you have whats officially called a breeding cage...find it a permanent home for a couple of months and leave it there...no moving it about Cheers kaz Edited January 31, 200817 yr by KAZ

February 1, 200817 yr Author Busy day ..... I got some rolled oats (ready for babies) and I sourced some budgie hand rearing formula so I could get it quickly if there is a problem when they hatch.... but the bad news is .. sunny threw one of her eggs out of the nest today, I found it broken on the floor of the cage and took it out, I was surprised how upset I was.
February 1, 200817 yr I'm sorry to hear that She may not be liking you peeping/handling anything in there... perhaps if you're doing it often give her a bit more space? thats when i notice hens throw out their eggs, when interfered with
