Dj's Got An Itchy Eye!

Featured Replies

Posted

hi all,

recently one of our budgies (DJ) has started scratching his eye. Some of his feathers have been scratched off around his eye.

This has happend before but not as bad as this. We have separated him from the flock and he is improving rapidly.

Hes a fit and healthy bird and this is the only time he has been feeling under the weather.

Please can anyone tell me what is wrong and how to treat him!

Hi Toffee,

feather mites can be seen as black spots on the base of the feathers near the skin. There is also a type of mite that attacks at night time so please treat all the crevices and cracks for mites as well.

Feathers.

if it is not that he could have some type of conjuctivitis of the eye or maybe there is something in the eye that is irritating it too.
