Posted January 29, 200817 yr Are Snow peas the same as Mange tout....and does Corn on the cob need to be cooked before giving to budgies or can it be fed to them raw off the cob?....can we just open a can of green giants sweet corn and give them some or is that a no no? Thanks
January 29, 200817 yr Sorry I haven’t ever heard of Mange tout, so can’t say if it’s the same as Snow Peas. I think that some people feed cooked corn, but in my opinion raw would be better. I feed it on the cob or buy frozen nibblets & thaw it out or pour hot water over it & drain it before feeding. Corn from a can wouldn’t hurt them, but as I said I think raw is best.
January 29, 200817 yr My Birds LOVE raw corn on the cob!!!!! YUM YUM - i get them Sweet Corn and it goes in a flash I give it a good wash before feeding to ensure all pestacides and chemicals are washed off. I was thinking the same about Snow Peas yesterday??? I havn't fed my birds snow peas before... i wonder if they are good for them to eat?
January 29, 200817 yr Read the label on corn from a can as it usually has salt added and thats not good. Raw is best and frozen corn...defrosted as Norm has said.
January 30, 200817 yr My four LOVE snow peas - they demolish it as soon as I put it in their cages. Sometimes I think they like the crunchy sound it makes more than the taste, going by the amount they get all over the walls!
