Posted January 29, 200817 yr Hi guys. Robert and I have never really 'gone into' what type of Budgies we had before, so coming on here has opened up a whole new world to us. Basically, all green ones have forever been called a 'Georgie' as that was all my late Nanna ever had - even if I had a blue one, it was still 'Georgie' to her! Here are pics and names, and if you can possibly tell us then we can look :book: into the posts dealing with 'types' and say "Aah Ha!!! ...That's why it's called that!" Then one day, maybe get the hang of the breeding tables. First things first though! Thanks for all the help so far and for being such a great community of friendly and knowledgeable people...and all for FREE! Here are 'some' of our Family... Angel Buttercup Custard Mildred - not the greatest of shots and lastly for now, Olive
January 29, 200817 yr Angel is a dilute Buttercup...does she have red eyes or black ? Custard is a recessive pied Mildred is a normal blue and Olive is a green spangle

January 29, 200817 yr Author Angel is a diluteButtercup...does she have red eyes or black ? Custard is a recessive pied Mildred is a normal blue and Olive is a green spangle Thanks for the answer Kaz. I checked and Buttercup has black eyes.
February 10, 200817 yr Buttercup is then either a DEC (dark eyed clear) or a DF spangle. The cere in that shot looks pink to me, is this a young bird?? The best way to tell these two genes apart is the eye, if the eye has an iris ring then it's a DF (double factor) spangle if not it's a DEC. This is the outcome of a recessive pied and a clearflight pied split recessive. If buttercup is older than 6 months then I would say DEC and male.
