May 4, 200817 yr Author Time to take this back to where it all started - the birds. All the remaining young ones (Gwenevieve, Maika, Gabrielle, Mozzarella, Geography, Heimdall, Sif and Balder), along with Hugo and Nibbler have all been moved to the small aviary. This gives them a chance to fly and interact with other birds, whilst still having the protection of the smaller aviary. Some pics. Fathers Nibbler close up with Hugo in the background Hugo with Gabrielle Hugo with Sif, then Sif on her own Gabrielle Baldr with Hugo then on his own Geo watches Heimdall Gwenevieve with Mozzarella and also with Heimdall Mozzarealla, Heimdall, Maika and Geo They will spend a few weeks in here, then they progress to the large aviary
May 4, 200817 yr Author Great photos Dave How many budgies do you have now ? Thanks Kaz. Off the top of my head, 35 I think, maybe 36. 36, if I rembered everyone. Though there have been births, in 6 months I have lost Punter, Norm, Thor (flew away), Kim, Princess, and I gave 4 young ones to Deb, so a big turnover for such a little steup it seems.
May 4, 200817 yr they are great photos, i bet the birds love having more space to fly after being in breeding cabinets.
May 16, 200816 yr Author This afternoon I moved Dad's Hugo and Nibbler, and young ones Sif, Heimdall, Baldr, Maika, Gwenievieve, Gabrielle, Mozzarella and Geo from the small aviary to the big aviary. Quite a culture shock for them, I am sure, with them now seeing so many other birds, where before they could only hear them. They will have to learn who is top dog in the aviary. I am sure that none of the young ones will take any rubbish from the older ones. They are all undergoing a 6 week treatment of Triple C in their water as well. Wilde, one of my newest, a green show bird, seems to have runny green poos and whilst I have tried a few things, Kaz suggested this. Thought I might do the whole lot at the one time, so everyone is getting a dosage. Means more work for me and no corn or spinach for a while, but at least they should all be healthier for it. I will take some new pics, but I think they will be posted under my flock now. This thread is effectively at an end now. Thank you to all the people who have contributed and watched the journey of my breeding pairs.
