January 25, 200817 yr It sounds like the meds are doing wonders I agree with what maesie says... and just giving it to them in their water will be less stressful for all mmm... if it says on the bottle to do both I'd keep it up (the seed issue is most likely unrelated) How many days have you got left? been medicating for 3 so 2-4 days left I edited my other post whilst you were writing :(Laughing out loud): mmm... if it says on the bottle to do both I'd keep it up (the seed issue is most likely unrelated) How many days have you got left? (just re-read , you've done 3 days) Maybe continue both for two more days and then the last two days just in water. I'm no expert though... mayb see what the other say. If it's working though it must be good. You also don't want to stop early. Like if we're on antibiotics and we stop before our tablets are finished, we usually get sick again!
January 25, 200817 yr I say keep up what you're doing tina... It won't kill them at all Sulpha D has the directions on the pack like that because just drops alone in their water isn't enough... The dose by mouth is given to ensure they've taken what is required and any extra diluted formula in their water Is an added little bonus ontop...But due to the amount of water budgies consume per day just a few drops in the water isn't enough to help much What you're doing is going well so i suggest you continue it for the written amount of days good luck
January 25, 200817 yr Author thankyou all i will continue to give the medication as the bottle says for the rest of the time as it does seem to be working.
January 25, 200817 yr We do have an article about the difference between regurgitation vs vomiting in the health section make sure you read that over to ensure which one is which. If it is vomiting it is for serious concern if it is regurgitation as maise said it not too much to be concerned with at this point.
January 27, 200817 yr Author todays update, both jake and jasmine are looking much much better poo's appear normal and both are eating alot more only 2 more days of medication to go. We have also noticed that jasmine appears to be enjoying the handling that she gets now she has stopped drawing blood when she bites and only flies away every so often so looks like the medication has been good for more than one reason.
January 27, 200817 yr Please bear in mind that any doses of medication in water during hot weather must be halved due to excessive water consumption :bluebudgie:
January 27, 200817 yr I'm really pleased they're looking up. Sounds like you're having some great progress also. :(Laughing out loud):
January 29, 200817 yr Author I have wonderfull news today was the last medication day and both jake and Jasmine appear to be back to normal. Jasmine has become so much more tame with all the handling she has had lately. Haven't tried fresh vege with them yet but I did crush some pellets over their seed today and both of them have had a good munch away at that and appear to quite like it. Will be buying some fresh vege for them tommorow and will try all your suggestions to see how they go fingers crossed. Thankyou all again for your advice and friendship I hope to get to know you all alot more over the years to come. Tina
January 29, 200817 yr How wonderful, a good testament that taking your bird to an avian vet is beneficial .
January 31, 200817 yr :ygbudgie: Terrific news!!! Yes, you do have to adhere to the dosage. A couple of my budgies have lipomas so they have a specific dosage of meds that dissolve in a specific measure of water every other day. Unfortunately my lovebird Mango suffers from epilepsy, (at some times worse than others and I know he has fits when I am not at home) and if he is having a prolonged spell, I have a specific dosage to give per beak. Likewise, my lovebird Phoebe, has anti-anxiety meds per beak daily which help with her plucking behaviour. Over time, have had all species require antibiotics and other medications, all with different forms of adminstration so you have to do what the vet says.
