Hi,

i currently have a pet variety budgie which ive had for about 3 months, so hes about 4 and a half months old now..........I got another babie budgie ( show variety ) about 3 weeks ago, and he was around 3 weeks old when i got him........they have been separated all this time, and yesterday i brought their cages in the same room to see how they would react together.....

they seemed to like each other and both rush towrds the edge of the cage and were trying to kiss it looked like.....

ive read that if you want a really tame budgie and want it to talk, dont let it see other birds.....

Ive decided to keep them separated from now on and not let them see each other, atleast until they are both very tame. My question is this.......will they remember that breif little encounter they they had with each other the other day, and will this slow the process of taming my neww baby show budgie ?

thx Jas

Welcome :P

They will probably remember their encounter for a couple days and may call out to each other. If they are within hearing range they will call out to each other too which can drive someone nuts so make sure they can't hear each other.

Just a note, it takes time have them talk some never do and if they do and then you reintroduce them you do take the chance of the one that takes to stop talking. I know Pretty talked and then when I intro'd Merlin he stopped talking. Since Pretty has passed Merlin is now talking. It is rare for them to continue to talk but it has happened. They should stay tame though if you work with them and even when they are introduced again.

Are you sure he was three weeks old when you got him? as at that age they're still in pin feather stage but starting to open ?

I think they'll be fine :P just keep them however you please... it's not impossible to tame them whilst together however it is a bit harder though :D good luck

Some people get confused about how many weeks old and how many weeks out of the nest
