Hi, I'm Loreli. I have used the BBC site for a long time, and have decided to register! Im a young budgie enthusiast, I have two budgies, Ollie, 5yrs, and Zoe, 3yrs, both hens.

Im interested in breeding. :yellowhead:

thankyou!

The five year old may be a little "over the hill" but the three should be okay for now... congrats on registering and i'm glad to have you aboard....

I suggest you get a breeding cage and a cock for your three year old hen, something that works well with her colours... read up on starting to breed in the FAQ section and any other info you need feel free to ask forum members that are experienced :yellowhead: once again... welcome :P

Hi Loreli,

Good thing you decided to join after hanging around for awhile

If you are going to be breeding in the future remember two very important things

1. Study, research and learn first

2. You have to have a boy, as two hens wont breed together :hap:

PS Sorry for the joke...I couldnt help myself :yellowhead: :P

Hi and welcome to the forum Loreli, Ollie and Zoe :yellowhead: .

Gday, and welcome .

Enjoy the breeding :D

:ygbudgie: Hello and welcome, glad you joined and you will learn proper breeding practises from the EXPERTS here! :P

Hello and welcome to the forum :(Laughing out loud):

thankyou all for the warm welcome!

yes, ollie the five yr old is much too small anyway, my vet, ray butler said she would probably get egg bound.

zoe is a grees and yellow aust pied, i havent seen her in breeding condition yet, her cere is quite pink. thankyou all again!

If Zoe is a pied and at 3 years old has never had a coloured cere indicating ahen in breeding condition....are you sure Zoe is a girl ? Recessive pieds have a pink cere all their life if a boy....coloured brownish if a girl. Dominant pieds would have coloured ceres. Do you have any photos ?

Recessive pied looks like. Now a clearer one of the cere :) But if at 3 there has never been a brownish look to the cere, it MUST BE a boy :)

from what I can see of the photo (kinda fuzzy on the cere) I agree with Kaz, it looks like a male with the bright purple/pink color.

Yes, you would want to insert the IMG direct link (last option on Photobucket) for your pictures to show up. Phoebe

Very cute ;) .

If you want your pictures to show in your posts, paste the 'Direct Link' from photobucket rather than the 'HTML Code' :dbb1: .

And the good news is that if you can get a hen that is about 12 months old (no younger) you will get upto 3 years of breeding out of your pair  .
