Do you think these birds are just Yellow Faces or are they Golden Faces or something else?

 

 

 

 

Im still confused with this variety myself , sure there is yellowface type 1 & 2 but when it comes to golden face all I can find is that it has a more irridesent buttercup yellow to the face as with the rest of the feathers ie check patches and tail feather colours im unsure as to the difference between the yellowface and goldenface if there is any .

That's what I used to think Libby, that the different intensities were just variation, as you see in just about any colour & I thought you should just select for the strongest colour to improve your birds. Then I read that you shouldn't mix the two, as they are separate mutations. Then through reading I get the idea that really you shouldn't mate YF to YF as then at least you get double Factor YF which turns out with White Faces, so that's another complication it seems. So the idea I have now [if it's right] is to mate YF Blue to White Faced Blue, but then there is the problem it seems to me that, that makes it harder to improve the YF. Whereas if you mated the best YF to YF you are selecting for improvement of the depth of the YF. Correct me if I have got the wrong idea anyone.

your birds are definatly goldenface in coloring... which is a seperate genetic mutation than the yellowfaces.
