January 17, 200817 yr Good food should be given to the budgies all along before breeding, during and while raising chicks. Plenty of good vegies, good quality seed etc. Healthy parent budgies means healthy babies. We have some great advice in our FAQ section for diet. January 21, 200817 yr good luck with the eggs, do you know if any are fertile? as for nutrition, Kaz is right... you should be giving them additional nutrients before the eggs were laid, but if not make sure to give them plenty of fresh veggies like shredded carrots, fresh parsley, spinage leaves, corn or even broccoli are great in any combination you have available (even if they never ate them before they are usually more likely to try new foods durring breeding), as well as boiled eggs (just smash them up with a fork and keep the egg shells in the mash, they'll use it for calcium and protein and it's an all around good food for breeding). also make sure they have access to natural lighting or provide a UV lamp nearby to help them produce D3 which helps in absorbing the calcium in their diet.
February 1, 200817 yr Author Hi, The Eggs have all hatched except one (Due tonight) My Sister's Budgie laid 5 eggs but none of them are fertile so I gave her two of my eggs! One of those two have hatched and the other one is due tonight. She is very gratful for the eggs!
