Posted January 10, 200817 yr I was talking to Kaz last night about some birds I saw when I was out, and how i should have bought them. She said go back and get them. Well, I was going to, but I came across something else. I have 4 young males, all '07 birds, in quarantine at the moment. I have named their cage "The Bar". Here are all 4 boys at the bar This is Boof - he is a Grey-Green Opaline Spangle. Then there is Punter - he is a Green and Yellow Dominant Pied - probably a double factor dominant pied Slate is my Mauve Spangle. He looks grey, but Kaz assures me that due to his bluey cheek patches, he is in the blue series, not grey sereis. And then there is Norm. Norm is my first Texas ClearBody. When thinking of a name for him, I thought what do I know about TCB's? Only what Norm has taught me online, thus the name was born. So there you have it. My newset additions.
January 10, 200817 yr Really nice birds Dave. You are choosing birds with more size and they do look very nice
January 10, 200817 yr Author The place I was a had 4 TCB's for sale. I was tempted to buy them all - but it is about getting variety in my aviary. And should I breed them to each other? What if they were related? Better to buy one at this time, and breed to a Lutino. Boof is my favourite, I am not the biggest fan of opalines, but he looks great to me.
January 10, 200817 yr Obviously those free birds didnt come flooding in !! Next best thing , Go and buy some good birds !! Welldone. Edited January 10, 200817 yr by lonebudgie
January 10, 200817 yr In repose to your message Dave, your bird is a Normal TCB, the faded flights is one of their main characteristics, together with the faded body colour, thanks for the honour [i hope] of naming him after me…years ago I had a calf named after me, now a Budgie. I like your other new birds too. I know you say you don’t like Opalines, but Opaline Spangles like Boof are a pretty nice Mutations I think.
January 10, 200817 yr Author Boof is one of the first Opalines that I really like. I think it is because his colours are blended all throughout. Some opalines just haved this birght head colour and then a different body colour, with some colour mixed into the wings. Boof is more of a complete blend. Thanks for the responses and answer on TCB's. I went back and looked at your posts regarding their flight feathers, and saw they are all like that. All good now, thanks.
